  • Steve King
    Steve King
    Teacher / Instructor
My wife, Debra McIntire, and I recently moved to the beautiful St. Croix River Valley after living overseas for thirty years. I was an art teacher and instructed in a variety of media to include charcoal, oil pastel, watercolors, acrylics, collage, pen and ink and mural creation. If you are interested in learning a particular medium or technique, please feel free to contact me. My first love is working in stained glass and creating assemblages where I incorporate fossils, agates, bones and shells into my works. My art reflects the dynamics of nature along with a respect for the profound intrinsic beauty of the natural world. I would be happy to create stained glass art designed to your specific needs. This would include everything from wedding, anniversary, and birthday gifts to large panels installed in your home. Feel free to give me a call, shoot me a message over the wires, or just stop by the studio.
  • Barbara Koppang
    Barbara Koppang
Storyteller; Visual Artist: Mixed Media; Visual Artist: Sculpture
Myths skillfully weave words to create worlds to answer the questions of life. Like myths, I want my art to not only answer questions but to also create questions. Stories seep and soak into my art. Little snippets of the world and small moments of my life, traveling from memories to the art I create. Carrying the genetic code of my Mom, I have received the artist gift that travelled through the many artist generations of her family to me. The journey of my life and theirs has informed the art I create. I want to sculpt tangible pieces of stories that transcend my life and touch a memory, feeling or story that we might share together. My art pieces are proof of the process I undertake in the creation.
  • Debra Korluka
    Debra Korluka
    Visual Artist: Drawing Illustration
Icons are an essential part of Eastern Christian belief and worship, with the Holy Spirit as the Divine Iconographer. The icon, essential to contemplative prayer and practice, leads to a deeper communion with God, cultivating spiritual awareness and calling on the viewer to become one with God’s truth. The icon is a holy gift which is both a reflection of celestial glory and a concrete example of matter restored to its original harmony and beauty. I am second generation American with Slavic roots. Being an Orthodox Christian, I prayed before the icons and felt the mystery of holiness in the personages depicted. Icons brought me into a world of joy and contemplation, and icons transported me into a world where the laws of existence were far more harmonious than in our temporal world. The images spoke truths to me: everything visible assumes an invisible dimension, everything created assumes an uncreated perspective, everything purely mundane becomes deeply mystical. Korluka’s work is featured in her book Seeking the Face of Christ: the Way of an Iconographer. She offers classes in iconography and leads tours to Russia and other important sites for iconography.
  • Christie Kowalski
    Christie Kowalski
Visual Artist: Mixed Media; Visual Artist: Painting; Visual Artist: Photography
My childhood involved watching my mother draw and paint.  I was also very intrigued by my brother’s photography.  So . . . from an early age, I loved to create using a pencil, paint, or camera.  My first painting on canvas was a joint effort with my twin sister.  After high school, I completed a Bachelor Degree in Fine Art. As an adult, I have combined my passion for travel and art by photographing many spectacular destinations.  Greece, Australia, Singapore, Bali, Sweden, the Caribbean, and many U.S. locations appear in my photographs.  Many of my paintings are mixed media pieces that include a process of transferring sections of my photographs to the painting surface.  The photographic image becomes integrated into layers of paint. My special area of interests include nature, color, different cultures, and abstract images.  These elements are seen in various captivating ways in my artwork.
  • Matthew Krousey
    Matthew Krousey
    Visual Artist: Pottery/Ceramics
The preservation of a disappearing landscape through imagery on ceramics is the reason I create. Inspired conceptually by the regionalist painters of the early 20th century who sought to document the rural landscapes of America, I see myself as a modern Regionalist working with clay. I make pottery, murals, and sculpture decorated with the landscapes, flora, and fauna of the Midwest.  This region is being vastly altered by commercial development and urban sprawl, forever changing its natural character. My hope is that the daily use and viewing of the work will be a gentle reminder to the public of the vanishing natural world around us.
