Catherine (Kitty) Zimba spent many years using her talents as a cartographer, illustrator and graphic designer. Today, she shares her talents with us in a very special exhibit unlike any we’ve had before.
From Kitty’s artist statement: “I paint subjects that express themselves through movement and spirit. I love capturing the soul of an animal… a horse with fire in his eyes, a proud wolf, or a buffalo enduring its weathered life. I enjoy painting people that are making a statement with their actions or attitudes. Landscapes, too, have something to say about the place or day. Texture and colors are very important in my work. A successful piece, for me, is one that makes the audience feel the subject’s mood.”
Meet Kitty in person and learn about her artistic inspirations and methods. Light refreshments served – free program. Opening Reception for the “Critters and Country!” Art Exhibit happens on Sunday, June 28 from 2 pm to 4 pm. Exhibit open during regular business hours of the Center: Mondays through Saturdays from 9 am to 5 pm and Sundays from 12 pm to 5 pm. Donations gratefully accepted to continue the high quality educational programs of the Great River Road Visitor and Learning Center at Freedom Park.
