Galleries Exhibition at The Phipps

Presented by The Phipps Center for the Arts at The Phipps Center for the Arts

Gallery One

“Foreign places, those far-flung places in all corners worldwide and places newly discovered nearby. Natural places deep in the forest and my own backyard. Sacred places far from home and the neighbor’s house of my childhood. My work is place-based, visual stories told through color and pattern, connecting other times and other cultures with my personal life lessons…”

– Dawn Zero Erickson (Red Wing, Minn.)

Overlook Gallery

“When I create art, I feel a connection to light and energy, and I hope those who view my art feel that same connection. I create nature-based designs that are fluid and relaxed, hoping to inspire a feeling of inner stillness and peace. I also create complex geometric patterns, focusing on precision and detail, hoping to evoke that feeling of awe that one feels when in the presence of God.”

– Kristin Dieng (Plymouth, Minn.)

Gallery Three

“I’ve always been interested in deceptively simple subjects in my work as a still life painter. I love the challenges of composition and of representing nature – real or man-made. I choose the ingredients carefully and I really enjoy putting together the puzzle of color, shape, pattern and texture that go into each piece.”

– Suzanne Howe (Robbinsdale, Minn.)
