True West

True West

Presented by St. Croix Festival Theatre at St. Croix Festival Theatre

True West is considered the masterpiece of famous American playwright Sam Shepard’s many plays. The play follows two estranged brothers over a few tumultuous days, examining their relationship as their sibling rivalry becomes apparent in hilarious and intense ways. Austin, a writer, works to complete a screenplay to jumpstart his Hollywood career while Lee, a charismatic thief drifter works to get under Austin’s skin and achieve his own personal goals. True West was a finalist for the 1983 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. It has been revived on Broadway three times and was a hit film in 1984.

True West is directed by longtime collaborator and former managing director Mark Baer. Jason Richards and Scott Murdock play the two brothers Lee and Austin, and Isaac Bont and Lynda Dahl round out the rest of the cast.

True West plays October 9 – October 30.
Age Recommendation: 15 & up. True West contains some strong language.

Accessibility Info

Our charming old building allows us to rise to the occasion by climbing stairs to get to the theatre! The three half flights of stairs can be a challenge for injured or ailing knees & hips, so we welcome our patrons to use the northeast entrance to the theatre up an easy ramp and directly into the theatre. Access to our outdoor patio and mezzanine is also possible via this ramp.
