Bringing the Natural Aesthetic Home: Our Changing Local Landscapes

Bringing the Natural Aesthetic Home: Our Changing Local Landscapes

Presented by Wild Ones-St. Croix Oak Savanna at Family Means

We’re adding pocket gardens to our yards, and creating prairie, savanna, woodland and wetland restorations for entire neighborhoods, corporate campuses, and public parks.

Dr. Holley Wlodarczyk, Wild Ones member and researcher/writer on suburban culture, will discuss our changing environmental concerns and landscape practices. With examples from Washington County and the greater metro area, she will highlight native plant communities being installed and restored in residential, commercial, and civic settings. Holley served as the historical consultant on the recent “Suburbia” exhibit at the Minnesota History Center. She has published essays on suburban architecture, aesthetics, and popular culture.
