Crafternoons at Stillwater Public Library

Presented by Stillwater Public Library at Unknown

Join us each Wednesday this summer, June 8 – August 3, for crafternoons at the Stillwater Public Library.  The craft session will begin at 1:00 and will repeat again at 1:30.  Projects are geared toward ages 6-10 years.  Check out our list of weekly crafternoon projects!

June 8: Treasure Holders – Make a trinket holder from re-purposed ceramic plates and plastic safari animals that we will decorate using gold gilt.

June 15: Robots! – Create a 2D robot and background using foil and other materials. There will be a variety of other robot themed craftiness to do or take home.

June 22: Creature Corner Bookmarks – Duck tape has gained popularity as a craft supply over the last ten years or so. Now available in an array of colors and funky patterns, the tape is used to make many things including prom dresses! Come try selected projects with Duck Tape donated by ShurTech Brands.

June 29: Paper Roll Fairy House or Castle – Use a variety of decorative papers, foils, and embellishments to create a whimsical little fairy house or small castle.

July 6: Rock Creatures – Start with a plain rock and add eyes, hair, and more using a variety of supplies. Make it silly, scary, or maybe cute, it’s up to you.

July 13 – Decorative Painted Tiles – It’s hard to believe that these beautiful works of art are made on inexpensive ceramic tiles available at just about any home improvement store. Using alcohol inks and alcohol resist techniques, these stunning watercolor inspired tiles are pretty amazing. It’s near impossible to make one that isn’t a tiny museum ready piece. Trust us, you’ll be making these a lot.

July 20 – Envelopes and Mini Books – Join us for a paper-crafternoon. We’ll have plenty of paper crafting ideas and materials for you to get creative with. We’ll have instructions on how to make your own, simple books, as well as templates to make envelopes from scratch.

July 27: T-Shirt Creations – When is a t-shirt not a t-shirt? When it’s a reusable market bag or a traditional yarn called trapillo. We’ve collected a lot of t-shirts, but we need you to dazzle us with your ideas. Come for a t-shirt, leave with a…(TBD!)

August 3: Button Bouquet – Everyone loves a bouquet, and one that lasts forever is twice as nice. Come make button bouquets with us for some year-round cheer.

Thank you to the Friends of the Stillwater Public Library and private donations for the supplies.
