Expand creativity and gain inspiration for your personal stories!
Start with your own compelling experience and develop the details to discover its universal meaning in this creative writing class. This powerful form of literary non-fiction depends on the qualities we recognize in fiction—dialogue, setting, character, plot, and others—to create a fully rendered story, rich with subtle meaning. This class takes participants through the writing process from idea concept to a completed story of 3 – 10 pages. Class time includes lively discussion of the genre, diverse readings, guided in-class writing, and gentle and fun mini-workshops. After every session, you’ll go home with ideas and techniques to continue developing your piece. The class culminates in a supportive analysis of your piece from the instructor, and a carefully guided peer review to help you move forward when the class is over.
WITC is once again offering the class in collaboration with the Saint Croix Falls Library. Registration through WITC is $59.50 for ages 18 to 62, and $37.50 for those 62 and older. Register online at: courses.witc.edu, select Saint Croix Falls, and The Relevant Personal Story.
