Bluebird Conservation Workshop

Bluebird Conservation Workshop

Presented by Bluebird Restoration Association of Wisconsin at Great River Road Visitor & Learning Center at Freedom Park

Join Lowell Peterson from the Bluebird Restoration Association of Wisconsin to learn how and why to help the bluebird population!

Mr. Peterson and Jim Beix of BRAW will cover bluebird box styles, best habitat to attract birds, how to minimize predation, and the value of nest box monitoring. Box plans and handouts will be available. They will also talk about other types of cavity-nesting birds like chickadees and woodpeckers.

After the presentation, stick around to build your own birdhouse! This will be a family-friendly activity. Prescott High School’s shop class is cutting the pieces out; you can assemble them! We will be using cedar wood – an excellent, rot-resistant natural material. Birdhouses are $15 each to build and keep.
