Minnesota Center for Book Arts (MCBA) provides visitors of all ages with opportunities for learning, creativity and self-expression. MCBA On the Road extends our educational reach throughout the seven-county Metro area and across greater Minnesota through partnerships with regional art centers, offering hands-on workshops and free open house events that introduce the book arts to new audiences in their home communities.
Explore two Japanese techniques for creating unique decorative papers: marbling (suminagashi) and fold dye (orizomi). These techniques do not require complicated or expensive equipment and once learned all can be done easily at home. The resulting colorful decorative papers can be used to make books, cards, collages and other paper crafts.
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
