Acrylics for Watercolor Artists

Acrylics for Watercolor Artists

Presented by The Phipps Center for the Arts at The Phipps Center for the Arts

For advanced beginners to experienced painters in watercolor; no experience with acrylics necessary.
Learn to use fluid and hi-flow acrylics with your watercolors to paint with more ease and flexibility, while still retaining the look and feel of a watercolor. Acrylics used like watercolors give you many more options in planning the painting sequence and making adjustments along the way, in addition to fabulous color intensity and some beautiful special effects only possible with acrylics. The wide variety of modern acrylics makes it easier than ever to extend your watercolor repertoire by incorporating this versatile and forgiving medium. Using acrylics in your watercolor painting will allow you to use your existing watercolor skills to paint with more freedom and spontaneity without giving up the distinctive “watercolor” look you love. Plus, most watercolor societies consider this manner of painting with acrylicto be “watercolor,” so you can still submit your work to their shows. Class time will be split between activities for learning new techniques and time to incorporate your new skills into projects of your own. A recommended supply list and instructor contact information for questions will be provided to registrants prior to the course. Ages 18 and older.
