A recreation of the 1987 award winning film, Babette’s Feast. The Outing Lodge’s culinary dinner, Babette’s Feast, featured as “the most authentic” recreation of the 1987 Oscar winning film’s dinner.
Set in a very small town in Norway, Babette’s Feast is a tale of an infamous French woman-chef, named Babette, who escaped France as a refugee to be taken in by two devout puritan sisters as their maid who prepared frugal and intentionally unappetizing meals. Years later, coming into a large fortune, Babette decides to spend all her money to host a genuine recreation of a grand French feast in an expression of gratitude to the sisters and the town members. Throughout the story, the feast symbolizes more than just food and wine; the meal is an illustration of Babette’s art and its ‘magic conciliatory powers’.
When better to celebrate Babette’s story than during Thanksgiving Week!
