This exhibition features two St. Croix Valley artists with work firmly rooted in the rural Midwest.
“Edie Abnet & Matthew Krousey: Two Solo Exhibitions” featuring two St. Croix Valley artists rooted in the rural Midwest.
Edie Abnet is a well-known painter from the Stillwater area. She is revered for her unusually bold, saturated watercolor style. Her vivid paintings of animals, flowers, and people are enhanced by colorful pastel outlines. Abnet has been a fixture in the artist community of the St. Croix Valley for many years, hosting group shows and sales at her home Abnet Farm which she recently sold.
Matthew Krousey is a potter, but this exhibition will feature a new body of work. Large scale sculptural pieces depict endangered organisms of the upper Midwest. These thoughtful renderings intend to provide a gentle reminder of an altered and vanishing natural world. Krousey makes his home and studio in Harris, MN where he is a host during the renowned St. Croix Valley Pottery Tour on Mother’s Day weekend every year.
