In the spirit of connecting writers with readers, Valley Bookseller and the Daily Grind have partnered up to present Authors After Hours. We will meet one Friday a month at 6:45pm in the Daily Grind. Guest authors will present their work, discuss the writing process and take questions. Attendees must call the store to reserve their spot (max of 20 people) and pay a $5 fee. The bookstore will be closed by that time as well but everyone will have a chance to shop after hours if they choose.

Author Bio: Spike Carlsen built a tree house at the age of 8 and has been swinging a hammer ever since. He worked as a carpenter and contractor for 15 years, then as an editor with The Family Handyman, the world’s leading DIY magazine for another 15. He’s the author of the award-winning A Splintered History of Wood, Woodworking FAQ, and The Backyard Homestead of Building Projects. He has written for Men’s Health, the Minneapolis Star Tribune, American Woodworker, and other publications and has appeared on HGTV, “Modern Marvels”, and CBS’s “The Early Show”. He and his wife, Kat, divide their time between their home in Stillwater, Minnesota, and their cabin on Lake Superior. His newest book is Cabin Lessons.
Author Bio: Dale Mulfinger is a principle of SALA Architects Inc., of Minneapolis, Stillwater, and Excelsior, Minnesota. He is an adjunct architecture professor at the University of Minnesota, where he teaches a class on cabin design. Mulfinger has designed homes and cabins throughout North and South America and is the author of The Cabin, Cabinology: A Handbook to Your Private Hideaway and Back to the Cabin: More Inspiration for the Classic American Getaway.
