AMERICAN HEART - documentary film

Join us for a free screening of AMERICAN HEART by filmmaker Chris Newberry. Presented in partnership with the Marine Film Society.* Doors open at 6:30. Following the film there will be a Q and A with the filmmaker. In the Marine Village Hall, 121 Judd Street, Marine on Saint Croix.

AMERICAN HEART gives us a glimpse into the remarkable lives of Thor Lem, a former political prisoner from Cambodia; Patrick Junior, a member of an oppressed ethnic minority in Burma; and Alex Gliptis, an Ethiopian refugee suffering from PTSD, diabetes and HIV. The health care challenges they face are daunting, made more complicated by the trauma they carry from their past.
