    Catherine Dauphinais-Oba
Visual Artist: Glass; Visual Artist: Glass
Catherine Dauphinais-Oba designs and creates unique, decorative and functional fused glass art.  Using the finest materials, she cuts the glass into a design which is assembled and fired twice in a kiln.  The first firing fuses the design into one piece of glass.  The second firing bends the glass into a shape.  The end result? a beautiful piece of fused glass art.  Given the nature of this hand-crafted art, no two pieces are ever the same, each piece having it’s own variations. Many designs are inspired by the natural beauty of Minnesota, but there are also several contemporary designs.

    Visual Artist: Drawing Illustration
One of my favorite things about making art is immersing myself in a subject that I’m fascinated with or curious about, and then presenting it in a way that highlights the qualities I find beautiful. My latest body of work is a series of charcoal drawings depicting young girls in moments of concentration, exploration, and discovery. They were inspired by my daughter and other girls that I had met while assistant teaching for a year. As they played, I could see them using their imagination, trying things out, making connections. They hadn’t yet absorbed the expectations our society puts on girls in relation to gender and power, and hadn’t yet learned to doubt themselves. They knew their own voices and were truly themselves in these moments. To me, this is beautiful. These girls represent my own lifelong journey towards a kinder self-understanding and broader perception of the world we live in.

    Wynn Davis
Teacher / Instructor; Visual Artist: Drawing Illustration; Visual Artist: Mixed Media
My mixed media work reflects my participation in the outdoors. Running over 5,400 miles a year, in some of the country’s most erogenous, wild, and urban areas has sharpened my mind, invigorated my body, and intensified my emotions. Some of the salvaged materials I find along the road or in Little Free Libraries. Some I pain to draw. The pieces are records of observations, experiences, and feelings, brought together by curiosity and imagination.
  • Michael DeMeglio
    Michael DeMeglio
    Visual Artist: Painting
Michael DeMeglio loves to work outdoors and will often set up plein air around Stillwater and the St. Croix Riverfront. The best way to paint is immersed in the experience of what you are creating. The style of his work embraces the mess that we are and the beauty of everyday life. His nudes especially celebrate the imperfections that can be uniquely appreciated when we are most vulnerable. His miniature works are not less time consuming but designed to draw the viewer into the moment that they capture, reminding us that small moments can have great meaning. He wants the viewer to not only see, but feel the zest of life when they encounter his artwork.

Visual Artist: Mixed Media; Visual Artist: Photography
My interest in photography began in grade school with a Kodak Instamatic that I got by mailing in 10 Raisin Bran box tops and $1.50 to Kellogg’s. In college I sold my silkscreen graphics through an art gallery. Later I was an art director for an ad agency and corporations. Several years ago I began showing my photography in galleries and exhibitions. From there I expanded from photography into collage, mixed media, and assemblage. Now I use whatever media best helps me tell the message I want to convey. In 2019 I needed to take a break from exhibiting for personal reasons. I’m now ready to return to actively creating and showing my work to the outside world

Visual Artist: Mixed Media; Visual Artist: Painting; Visual Artist: Photography
I am inspired by many things, but nature is my primary source of inspiration. In nature I find absolute beauty, truth, harmony and timelessness. My paintings are reflections of things I see around me that move me to create. I have been involved in the arts in Stillwater for over 25 years as a painter, art show organizer (For The Birds; Artful Lake and Cabin Show; My Kingdom for a Horse; Starry, Starry Night), columnist for the Stillwater Gazette (Spotlight on Art) and art discussion group leader (Van Gogh Café). Visual Artist: Painting
My art is presently displayed at Stillwater Art Guild Gallery. Art has been my passion my entire life. I studied art towards a major in college (although I became an RN), and I have continued to learn and paint throughout my life. I am now able to devote more time to art. I love the variety of various mediums, using oil and acrylics most commonly, but I love all the possible creative options by not eliminating options. I paint a variety of subjects, and find inspiration in nature, color and light. In the past, I tended to paint more realistically but I have challenged myself to continue to grow in other directions, with texture being my more recent passion. My wish is to give joy to people through my art. I have been a Minnesota resident since 1984 and now live in Stillwater.                                                                                 ~ Carol Dittbenner

Visual Artist: Fiber Art / Fine Craft; Visual Artist: Jewelry; Visual Artist: Sculpture; Visual Artist: Metalsmith
You’ve been ogling Jane’s Fine Silver Shotglasses for Poker Players, haven’t you? Great! Because Jane truly had a blast spending several days creating these pieces. Start each one by sawing an arc out of a flat sheet of fine silver; hammer it over a blowhorn stake to form the vessel wall; create the card suit design in the base with hammers, embossing and liner punches and a bowl of warm pine pitch (smells like a lovely pine forest!); then finally solder the base to the vessel with a hot propane torch. Can you believe Jane used to wear a paramedic uniform and served 18 years in emergency medicine? Even harder to believe is that she spent more than a decade wearing suits, pantyhose and high heels as a news reporter and corporate PR writer. So. Much. Better. Spending the day in jeans and a shop apron in her own studio! You also can find Jane’s handmade jewelry and metal art the Stillwater Art Guild Gallery, where she is a member artist and one of the owners. It’s Jane! LLC handmade jewelry and metal gifts can be found on display daily at the Stillwater Art Guild Gallery, 402 North Main Street, Stillwater, MN, in the historic Isaac Staples Sawmill building. The Art Guild Gallery is a cooperative of about 65 artists and is staffed 7 days a week by volunteers. Jane became one of the six owners of the not-for-profit gallery in early 2012.
