Hutton-Caviani Jazz Duo Presented by Blessings Academy of Arts and Music at Hastings Arts Center Feb 24, 2019 Joan Hutton is an educator, performer and composer residing in Minneapolis and originally hailing from Toronto, Canada. She has been a member of the Ancia Saxophone Quartet since 1996, a group that performs and presents educational clinics nationally and internationally. Ancia is featured frequently on National Public Radio’s “Performance Today.” Joan plays saxophones and bass clarinet with the jazz-funk sextet Rare Medium, and composes many of their tunes. Her newest group, the Joan Hutton Jazz Project, was formed early in 2017 to feature her original compositions (www.joanhuttonjazz.com). Other performance activities over the years have included solo recitals, orchestral playing, pit orchestras, big bands, jazz combos and R&B/rock/blues bands. Joan holds music degrees from Ithaca College and the Eastman School of Music. An indoor orientation is followed by quality time outside under the heavens where Mr. Lynch will use his large reflecting telescopes (including two giant 20 inch reflectors that are among the biggest mobile telescopes in this region) to allow guests close-up views of star clusters, nebulae, galaxies, and other wonders in the winter/spring skies. Lacie Carpenter
Lacie Carpenter Presented by The Phipps Center for the Arts at The Phipps Center for the Arts Jun 08, 2019 Lacie Carpenter was born and raised in the great state of Texas and now resides in Nashville. She grew up singing and playing all types of music and instruments, but the violin and fiddle won out! Her classical violin background spurs on her creativeness and passion for country, Celtic, rock n roll, and bluegrass. Having graduated from Stephen F. Austin with her degree in Music Education/specialization in Violin Performance and a MS in Psychology-she teaches private lessons in many musical crafts, writing courses, and performs globally. Lacie studied with Dr. Jennifer Dalmas, Dr. Isidor Saslav and Dr. Jane Saber. Performing is what she loves-no matter the genre. With moves like "The Flying High" and "Fiddle on Back," she gives performances like no other.
